A true Alaskan

Tonight Kenley and Parker were playing with one of those fishing games, with the rotating circle and the fish that open and close their mouths. Kenley gathered all the red ones and started walking away. When I told her she needed to keep the fishies with their game, she informed me that she needed to mail some salmon to some of her friends. She's fitting in perfectly already!

Our last few days

Here's an update on our past few days....

Last night we cooked up some salmon and ate out in the driveway with the whole fam. Claire gets really giggly when she's tired and she hadn't slept in hours, so she was giggling hysterically about eating this watermelon.

She also enjoyed crawling around the driveway and getting dirty.

And Kenley is still stylish.

Fathers Day Weekend

I updated twice today, so read back a little for some stuff from earlier this week!

This weekend we went up to my family's cabin at the lake. My grandparents built this cabin in the 60's, so my dad grew up spending weekends there, as did my family until we moved to California. I have such good memories of the cabin, and couldn't wait to take my kids and in-laws there.

First we stopped by Eklutna Lake, took a walk, and waited for Parker to have some inevitable accident (fell down in the mud - check).

Then we headed up to the cabin. The kids had a great time playing in the water. From an adult's perspective it was way too cold, but the kids didn't mind one bit. They splashed all around and had a great time.

We also went out on the raft....

We took Lucy and she did great. She loved tromping around through the bushes and attacking her own splashes in the lake.

We also did lots of reading, relaxing, and of course eating. Here's one last cute shot of the kids fishing off the dock.

Here we are!

Since I've been absent from the blogging world for over a month (!!!), there's obviously a lot I need to catch up on! But first I'll post some Alaska pics since I know that's what most people want to see!

Our flight up here went pretty well overall. My mother-in-law came with me to help me wrangle everything, and we flew from San Diego to Seattle on Tuesday. We saw a friend of mine from high school, Raj, and his family and let the kids play outside for a bit. Then we went to see Anissa and her family. Anissa's parents and mine have been friends since high school, so I've known her since I was born. The kids all had fun playing together, but unfortunately I didn't think to bust out the camera so you'll just have to take my word for it that both these friends have some darling kiddos and it was lots of fun.

On Wednesday we got up at 2:30 in the morning to make a 6:00am flight to Juneau (luckily all 3 kids slept the whole way), where we then had a 5-hour layover. We got the kids some breakfast first, and in my exhaustion, I didn't notice that I had let Parker pick out chocolate milk and a chocolate muffin, to which I added some Cocoa Puffs. My mother-in-law also reminded me he had just finished a chocolate sucker mere minutes earlier as well. Ah, well. I'm no health food mama.

The kids entertained themselves amazingly well at the airport. We had breakfast....

watched cartoons on the laptop, and then it was ready to board our flight to Anchorage! We got into Anchorage around 3pm, and went to our new place. We're going to be living in an apartment attached to my aunt Marci's house. Marci has 3 kids also, around my kids' ages. They were fast friends immediately, and my kids are in heaven knowing their life is going to essentially be one giant playdate for the next few years.

When we got home, we fell asleep on the floor. Big day.
