When Aunt Maren came to visit, we took a trip to Oceanside beach. Even though it took all morning to get ready and we were only at the beach for an hour, we still had a great time! Kenley loved chasing the seagulls with her daddy, eating the sand, and chewing on Maren's keys. I can't wait until she's old enough to build a sandcastle instead.
Like mother, like daughter, I guess! Kenley is really into her books lately. As soon as I put her down in her room, she scoots right over to her bookshelf and pull out some books. She turns the pages and looks at the pictures. I'm pretty sure she is actually reading them - she's so brilliant. Even more brilliant, as you might note, is the fact that she can actually read UPSIDE DOWN!
Last week we took our first family trip to the beach! As you can probably tell, the weather was not exactly optimal, but we had a great time anyway! One of Kenley's favorite activities - chewing on sweatshirt strings.
Kenley has had a big week around here! For one thing, she is finally starting to babble. It's so cute to hear her little voice. We can't wait until her "dadada" refers to James and isn't just her universal way of talking to us. Also, she is getting her first teeth! The bottom left one has just poked through, and the bottom right is on its way! Boy are they sharp! Kenley frequently runs her tongue over her gums with a confused look, like, "Um, are you going to get this sharp piece of rock outta my mouth or what?" But her MOST exciting new trick is that she has learned to sit up on her own from her belly! So now she can scoot over to a toy and sit up to play with it all by herself! I'm posting a video of this very exciting milestone, as well as just a funny one where she pulled her blanket out of her toybox and got all tangled up in it. Enjoy!
These are some pictures we took on Easter morning before heading out for the day. Kenley looked so cute in her Easter dress and bow! I'm not sure how anyone at church was able to concentrate.
She's getting a funny new smile that we call her "crinkle nose smile." It's so fun watching her change as she gets older.
Kenley really loves to sit by her toybox and play with her toys! She pulls them out one by one, looks at them, puts them in her mouth, and then throws them on the floor. Repeat, repeat, repeat until the floor is covered!
These are some pictures of Kenley in her new swimming suit. We love the ruffley butt! We are getting very excited for summertime, and we plan to spend an obscene amount of time in the pool!
On Thursday James had the day off work, so we went to the Santa Rosa Plateau for a walk. Kenley got to ride in her backpack for the first time, and she loved it! She liked to ride with one hand clutching the bar, and the other resting on her Daddy's shoulder. She had fun looking all around and seeing new sights, and we had fun watching her!
Kenley loves to play! She will sit on her blanket in the kitchen and play with her toy pots and pans while we eat. She also loves to be in her room playing with her toys. Her favorite is still the bug she got from Aunt Maren, but anything with a white silky tag is fine by her! She is a happy and animated baby, and we have a great time with her!
Is this a mischievous face or what? Playing on a blanket that Aunt Andrea made!
Our little Miss Mae is getting bigger and better every day! Her passions include: sucking on her toes (see below), grabbing at our dog's face, rolling all over, eating, sitting and playing with toys, grinning ear-to-ear, and watching her daddy do pretty much anything.
Things she hates? Being dressed, leaving the party, and having her stinky neck folds washed.
