Crow Creek Mine

I'm so behind on blogging! Our computer has been acting up, but we're still here alive and well!

When my dad and Joanie were here, we went up to a place in Girdwood called Crow Creek Mine. It was an old mining settlement, and you can look around at the old buildings and pan for gold. It was sooooo beautiful up there - tons of flowers everywhere and a gorgeous mountain view!

The kids loved throwing rocks into the river and digging with the little shovels WAY more than they liked panning for gold!

Here Moosey, Moosey

The other day we were getting ready to head to playgroup when we noticed a baby moose hanging out near our van. It was on the opposite side of the fence, but these moose can step over our fences like they're nothing. For those unfamiliar with moose, they can be aggressive at times, especially when it's a mommy protecting her baby. So since we didn't see mommy anywhere and didn't know what our situation was, we just hung out on our porch and watched for a little while. It's always so cool to see moose in and around the yard (as long as we're a comfortable distance away)!

Waterfalls and Rhubarb Leaves :)

For our Girls Adventure, Andrea, Brianne, and I went on a hike to a waterfall. It was fun to get out and see something I hadn't seen before, and the 1-mile hike was perfect.

I know some sad things have probably happened to make this sign necessary, but I had to laugh at it anyway.

 Max loved our hike!

 The gorge
 The falls

Aaaaaaand..... on a totally unrelated, random note, here are some giant rhubarb leaves from our yard.

4th of July, Part 2

On Monday we went to Gary & Mary's cabin for a family party. It was so fun to see my cousins who were in town for the long weekend!

So Kenley went tubing. It seriously gave me a heart attack. Luckily Kelsey kept her on the tube and there weren't any traumatic throws, but my heart didn't go back to beating regularly for at least 15 minutes. Kenley wasn't scared at all though!

It was another beautiful day and we went home that night happy, exhausted, and well-fed!

4th of July weekend, Part 1

The first awesome part of the weekend was that my sister and her husband came up and surprised me!!!! I was so excited to see her. Then, we were lucky to have BEAUTIFUL weather all weekend! We had a Sibs weekend up at the lake, which was really fun to spend some time together relaxing and having fun. Then Dad and Joanie came up and spent part of Sunday with us.

Out on the raft....

 Making s'mores

This is Kenley's newest "pose" that she thinks is really cute. There goes the modeling career she wanted.
