James and I are going to put his expertise to good use and start a dessert business! We will be doing mostly wedding and special occasion cakes, but also cupcakes, cookies, and specialty desserts.
We want our image to be young, trendy, and high-end. Maybe something that reflects kind of a Southern California feel, but we're not set on that. Anything would work. I really like the sound of a one-word name, possibly with the phrase "A Dessert Boutique" after it. But like I said, we're really open at this point.
So can I pick your brains? Please help us out! Any and all ideas are welcome, maybe it'll get our brains going in some different directions!
If you come up with the winning name, you will receive a dozen complimentary specialty cookies or cupcakes! Just type your ideas in the comments section - and for those who haven't commented before, you don't have to have a blogger account, you can post anonymously and just put your name at the end of your post so we know who you are. Thanks everyone!

Yummy! You guys would be awesome at it! Check out www.madbaker.net for some truly amazing specialty dessert ideas (really - you'll want to lick the screen when you see her stuff!).
I want cookies!! How about Sprinkles? Or Ganache?
Hampton & Plympton Goodtyme Treates!
The madbaker is my hero.
How about:
Epicurean delights
Sinful indulgence
Gourmet designs
How fancy schmancie do you want it?
I'll claim cupcakes if I win-
That wasn't to imply that Katie would be "Plympton." It just sounded British and went with Hampton.
"Ethereal Piquancy"
Maybe some French words:
"Le Petit Dessert."
I was just about to ask you that, Collin. I was preparing to be forever offended!
Maxine, I actually thought of Ganache too but I was wondering if people would pronouce it wrong? I love Sprinkles!
Yay! Do I win? I want cupcakes, too! I don't think people would mispronounce it. At least, not the crowd you're trying to target. You could even rhyme it with Panache! A little tacky? Never!
Only problem with Sprinkles is there's a gourmet cupcake store by that name in L.A. (google it). I just found their site and it looks like they're planning on opening one in San Diego. Don't know if that puts a damper on things...
Oh right. That's why it sounds familiar. Picking a winner is a looong way off, and we would maybe be too scared to deliver stuff to you anyway! You're more gourmet than we are!
Oh whatever, Mrs. Wife of Trained Pastry Chef. I just meddle in the kitchen. You guys actually know what you're doing! Besides, no taste is too gourmet for cookies!
How about:
Frosting
Dolce
Bonbon
Decadence
Sweet Tooth
I know that you don't know me at all, but I absolutely love your blog, Katie! Congrats on your new adventure! Here's my idea:

Um and when did you decide this?? I just saw you guys! Oh and Katie.... Where are the pictures of Kenley and her crush?? Hahaha. Aren't sprinkles also called Jimmies? Then it'd almost be like you're playing with James' name too.
I love your business idea- it's perfect for you guys and I think you could be really successful! Whenever anyone sees a picture of my wedding cake they think it's the coolest thing ever so if you need an official comment from a happy customer I'd be happy to give you one. Here are some of my name ideas...
Fetching Confections
Luring Confections
Dapper Desserts
Posh Pastries
Edible Elegance
Gorgeous Goodies
Swanky Sweets
Elite Sweets
Haute Kitchen...(a dessert boutique)
Upper Crust..." "
Creme de la creme...
"Sprinkles" is a to-die-for cupcake bakery! Really, really, awesome flavors, with-it decorative frosting and wonderfully soft and moist! There's one about a mile from the Newport Beach Temple. In British countries they call sprinkles "Hundreds and Thousands". A bit long for a business name - but memorable.
I am not even the slightest bit creative so instead of suggesting a name I am just going to vote for my favs. I really like the bottom 3 on Whit's list. Love them actually.

Katie,
That is so exciting! I love sweets! I also like really short, one word names. I think just plain Sugar would be cute. Or Brown sugar, pink sugar, etc. Sweets, Inc., Sweet & Flour, Ok, that's pretty much all I can think of, but looks like you've gotten lots of great ideas!
Everyone else has come up with such good ideas, I just pale in comparison. My Sis in Law is a chef and they are moving back to Cali. She and my brother swear that we will open and small sandwich/cafe and dinners to go kind of idea.
Anyway, I was thinking of something with your babies names. P&K whatever......
And, CONGRATS on such a great idea! It's so fabuous!
