Kenley turns 7!

Miss Kenley turned 7 last month. I know her difficult stage will come someday - I have a feeling her teenage years will just about kill me. But... not yet. If I had to use only one phrase to describe Kenley, it would be that she is a genuinely good person. She is sweet, she is kind and cheerful, she is patient and loving. She is sensitive to the needs of others and tries to never hurt anyone's feelings. She is grateful, and doesn't take the things she has for granted. She tries in every way to make my life easier, to the extent that you can when you're a first grader. She is always willing to give up a favorite cup, a first turn, a special seat, a spot at the table by Mom - anything to keep the peace in our home. She doesn't need to, but I am eternally grateful that I have at least one child who can give up the turquoise cup if all 3 kids want it. :)

These days, Kenley loves art, "makeovers," playing on the computer, hanging out with her doll Charlotte (pictured above), texting (!!!), and going to school. She is in a mixed-age 1st/2nd grade class this year and really thriving with kids who are a little closer to her own age. She has learned to read, but still prefers being read to. She is taking piano lessons, and just joined Girl Scouts as a Daisy. She loves going on "special dates" with me or my cousin Kelsey, and is always pestering me to plan a "Girls Night Out" with our friends. I think she thinks she's already all grown up. And maybe she is.

She is beyond precious and makes me beyond happy. She brings so much joy to everyone around her, and I can't wait for another year with this little one.

Ditto to the above! We are so lucky to have Miss Kenley in our lives. She's the best 7 year old around. :)
